About the Lip Dub
The first-ever Vanderbilt Student Lip Dub is happening on Sunday, March 19th, and we would like to have as many different people/groups in the video as possible!
A lip dub is essentially a long music video which involves hundreds of people. Large high schools like to do them, and the example videos linked below are done by high schools. However, My Commons Life, a branch of Student Media run by first-year students, decided that Vanderbilt should have its own lip dub!
These videos can receive anywhere from tens of thousands to over a million hits on YouTube. Here are links to a couple of example lip dubs done by other schools:

If you are a member of a student group or sports team, this is an opportunity for you to promote your organization and be a part of a potentially viral video. You can holding signs or wear costumes that represent you as a student group or sports team. If you don’t belong to a particular student group, we would still love to have you be a part of the video! Just show up in front of the Commons Center between noon and 4pm on March 19th wearing something crazy or fun.
We anticipate that this video will be viewed by current students, their families and friends, Vandy alumni, prospective students, and more. We would love to have as many individuals as possible be involved, and thousands of future incoming students will likely view this video, so this is a fantastic opportunity for you to sell your organization as fun and exciting. If you are just showing up with friends, this a chance to become YouTube famous. Don’t miss it.
Furthermore, this event will most likely be for My Vanderbilt Experience Credit. Free water and soda will be distributed during the shoot, and participants will receive a free sticker as they leave, while supplies last. Also, everybody who swipes in at the shoot will be entered in a drawing to win a to-be-announced prize!
Shooting will take place between noon and 4pm on the 19th, with each participating group assigned a thirty-minute time slot to be involved in shooting (so you don’t have to stand outside for 4 hours – just 30 minutes!). Individuals are welcome to join in the shooting at any time during that period.
Basically, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Vandy Lip Dub 2017 will be the first-ever event of its type on our campus, and will become a part Vanderbilt history, so you’d better be there on March 19th
